Writing Lines Book 1

Writing Lines Book 1

Why a book of just lines?
Even grown-ups do better writing on lines. Can you, therefore, imagine the benefits of writing lines for children!
Writing on lines properly is not automatic. Children need to be taught the skill and  will require time to master the skill.

At some point, floating and diving letters will not be acceptable. Having a book of lines to practice writing letters, numbers, words and sentences can be ideal at any level.
As a teacher, I have seen the frustration as learners try to make sense of the letter and number formations and getting them to fit in the right places. Sometimes they are unable to see the lines to which reference is made and end up with the floating and diving letters.

Benefits of using writing lines

  • They aid in the development of the fine motor skills.
  • They enhance concentration.
  • They improve penmanship.

Since some children may not have attended pre-school before enrolment in kindergarten where uncontrolled, free-handwriting was encourage and eye-hand

coordination and fine motor skills are better established, twenty unruled pages are placed at the beginning of this book to facilitate scribbling and the use of imagination.
