Can you think of an area in life where numbers are irrelevant? Learning and understanding numbers provide a student with skills needed to navigate life in the past, present and future. From celebrating birthdays to accessing information, numeracy plays a huge role.
Learning and Understanding Numbers with Auntie Nats seeks to help learners to develop a solid foundation and an enjoyable, lasting relationship with numbers.
Learners will not only learn to count but will:
develop number sense. Number sense is the ability to understand, relate and connect numbers. As a teacher with nearly 30 years of continuous interaction in the classroom, I cannot over emphasize the importance of the development of this skill.
be engaged in the repeated copying, tracing and writing of numbers to boost memory and improve the formation of numbers.
establish the foundation necessary to compute and solve problems such as reading the clock, calculating elapsed time, count money rounding numbers and more.
Understand number values.
