Literacy Cornerstones Reader with Auntie Nats: Book 1
The Francis-Campbell Approach to literacy provides an opportunity for learners to read and to do so with fluency as early as possible.
Readers who would have used Literacy Cornerstones Level 2: The Francis-Campbell Approach will be equipped to read one-vowel words well.
We will add sight words to one-vowel words to enable our readers to read phrases and then sentences with the fluency required to improve comprehension.
We have opted to not pair words with pictures consistently, as we are confident that our readers have the pre-requisite skills to read one-vowel words without prompting.
Pictures will be used, however, for other activities and to encourage other literacy and developmental skills.
In this text, sight words are those words that cannot be easily sounded out using phonetic elements. They need to be recognized on sight. The Francis-Campbell Approach to Literacy does not include high-frequency words in the set of sight words. High-frequency words are those words that occur very often in reading and writing.
